Job Description
Help restore and protect the ngahere (North Shore based) Do you live near a reserve? Have native birds, like piwakawaka (fantail) and tūī, in your garden? Would you like to do more to support the environment in your local area? In the Kaipātiki Local Board area, Pest Free Kaipātiki supports many independent local groups to tiaki (care for) our unique and beautiful environment. If you live in the area and would like to meet other local people who give their time to look after the reserves, get in touch to find out more. What would I be doing? The focus of the mahi varies from group to group. Working bees usually last about two hours and can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly. The working bee may include: Predator control (placing and monitoring traps and bait stations) Planting and care for recently planted trees Planning Communications and community engagement Social time and community events Monitoring, e.g. water quality testing, bird monitoring Maintaining walking tracks Rubbish removal and more... Training is provided, both through the PFK Training Programme (four modules) and on-the-job. What do I get out of it?
