About the Role An exciting opportunity has become available for a compassionate and dedicated Student Support Assistant (Teacher Aide) to join the Student Support Team at our Hamilton Campus in Eureka. This is a fixed‑term part‑time position (30 hours per week) providing 1:1 support for a Year 10 student with Down syndrome. Due to the specialist nature of the role, a three‑week transition and training period will be provided to support the successful applicant by the incumbent. The successful candidate will be a confident and empathetic communicator with a genuine commitment to inclusive education, and ideally will be skilled at scaffolding and differentiating learning, confident using a range of digital tools, and able to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Hours 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:00pm (term time only) Key Responsibilities Support the student to access learning through adapted programmes and resources. Create learning resources that promote engagement and success. Reinforce learning goals, routines, and Learning Centre expectations. Support literacy, numeracy, communication, social, and life skills development. Encourage participation, independence, and inclusion across all learning areas. Implement and contribute to Individual Learning Plan (ILP) goals. Use restorative practices and positive behaviour support strategies. Monitor and record student progress and wellbeing. Maintain effective communication with families, staff, and the Student Support Coordinator. Follow health and safety, confidentiality, and student support procedures. A sound understanding of inclusive education practices. Ability to scaffold and differentiate learning for individual student needs. Experience implementing learning support strategies and programmes. Confidence using digital technologies and educational tools. Strong communication and relationship‑building skills. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families. Excellent organisational and record‑keeping skills. Patience, resilience, empathy, and adaptability.
