Do you have a background in planning or in a technical regulatory environment? Are you technically minded with an eye for detail? We are looking for a Planning Technician to be responsible for providing technical support for the processing of resource consents, subdivision consents and building consents, along with planning advice via our Duty Planner service. To do this you'll have the ability to manage a range of processes and work to deadlines. You'll be working with a range of customers, both internal and external, providing expert planning advice. The priorities of this role include: Providing District Plan assessments for Building Act applications. Provision of advice to the public relating to the District Plan, Resource Management Act and the resource consent process. Providing assessments and advice relating to potential breaches of the District Plan and Resource Management Act. Strong communication skills are a must for this, as you will need to be able to adjust your language to suit different audiences and their varying knowledge levels. You will be able to confidently interpret complex documents (e.g. District Plan, Legislation) and case law to make justifiable decisions. You will also have: Experience in regulatory or compliance environments. Practical experience reading building plans. Strong accuracy and attention to detail. The ability to write clear, concise reports and letters. Experience with the Resource Management Act and the resource consent process in previous roles desirable. What's in it for you?
