Elizabeth Knox Home & Hospital is seeking compassionate and motivated Graduate Registered Nurses to join our Supported First Year of Practice (SFYP) Programme. This is an excellent opportunity for newly qualified nurses to develop their clinical skills, build confidence, and establish a strong foundation for a rewarding nursing career. We currently have opportunities available for 0.8 FTE positions. About the Supported First Year of Practice Programme Our Supported First Year of Practice (SFYP) Programme provides a structured and supportive transition from graduate nurse to confident Registered Nurse. Throughout your first year of practice, you will receive ongoing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities designed to support your clinical growth and professional competence. As part of your journey, you will participate in a comprehensive four-week orientation and induction programme, including dedicated preceptorship and the opportunity to work alongside experienced Registered Nurses who will support you as you develop your skills and confidence in practice. What You'll Bring Qualifications and Registration Bachelor of Nursing qualification from New Zealand‑recognised institutions. Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a valid Annual Practising Certificate. Skills and Attitude Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A compassionate, resident‑centred approach to care. The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. A positive and innovative, adaptable, and proactive approach to meeting residents' needs. Legal entitlement to work and reside permanently in New Zealand. What We Offer Competitive hourly rate of $35.73, plus weekend allowances and overtime payments where applicable. Rotating roster across seven days, including AM shifts (6:45 am – 3:15 pm) and PM shifts (2:45 pm – 11:15 pm). A comprehensive orientation and induction programme supported by our Clinical Educator, experienced Registered Nurses, and dedicated preceptors. A structured mentorship programme that supports the gradual development of clinical competence, confidence, and autonomy. Ongoing professional development opportunities throughout your first year of practice. Career development pathways for nurses who complete the programme.
