Cafe Assistant ( Weekends)

The Café Assistant supports the effective day-to-day operation of the Christchurch Adventure Park café by delivering efficient, friendly, and professional service to guests, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety, and contributing positively to a team-focused, fast-paced hospitality environment. The role plays a key part in delivering Christchurch Adventure Park’s commitment to exceptional visitor experiences, teamwork, and operational excellence within a unique outdoor adventure setting. Key Responsibilities Provide consistently professional, friendly, and welcoming customer service. Engage positively with guests, contributing to a relaxed, inclusive, and enjoyable café environment. Operate and manage the dishwash station, including washing, stacking, storing dishes correctly, and ensuring workflows are followed (no “dump and run”). Maintain high standards of cleanliness across front‑of‑house, dishwash areas, café tables, and restrooms (as per roster). Clear tables promptly and support an efficient flow of service during peak periods. Deliver food and beverages to tables safely, accurately, and in a timely manner. Assist kitchen and front‑of‑house teams as required, adapting to different tasks during service. Maintain an exceptionally high standard of food hygiene and personal cleanliness. Comply with all food safety, health and safety, and organisational policies and procedures. Work safely in a physically active environment, including extended periods on feet and repetitive task. Undertake other duties as required to support café operations. Professional Requirements Experience in a commercial kitchen or café environment preferred; barista experience an advantage. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. Strong time management and multitasking skills, with attention to safety and detail. High standards of food hygiene, personal presentation, and cleanliness. Positive, friendly, and reliable approach with a strong team mindset. Proven ability to learn new systems, follow procedures, and show initiative. Physically capable of working on feet for extended periods and in demanding conditions. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required. Clear written and spoken English communication skills. Legal right to work in New Zealand for the duration of employment.
