What You’ll Be Working On You’ll be part of a cross‑functional squad responsible for building, modernising, and supporting critical payments services - spanning both legacy platforms and modern cloud‑native systems - as we continue our transformation towards a cloud‑first, microservices‑based architecture. We advocate for T‑shaped teams, meaning you’ll be exposed to multiple facets of engineering - from design and development through to deployment and support, while still having a strong technical core. Technical Responsibilities Designing, developing, and maintaining backend services using C# and .NET Building scalable, secure, and resilient solutions on Microsoft Azure Developing and consuming RESTful APIs and event‑driven services Contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and DevOps practices Taking ownership of solutions from design through to production supportCollaborating closely with engineers, testers, and product owners across the value stream Mentoring and supporting junior engineers (where appropriate to role and experience) What You'll Bring To The Role Solid backend development experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem Strong hands‑on experience with Azure PaaS Solutions Understanding of microservices architecture, REST APIs, and distributed systems Experience with event‑driven architectures and messaging technologies Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD, version control, and automated testing A growth mindset with curiosity and a passion for continuous improvement Nice to have Exposure to payments, financial services, or regulated environments Exposure to containerised workloads and orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes) Understanding of cloud networking concepts in Azure Knowledge of observability, resilience patterns, or performance optimisation Senior candidates will bring deeper experience in system design, architecture, or technical leadership Working At ASB ASB's sense of who we are and what we stand for is grounded in our values.
