Job Description
The Opportunity As the Mechanical Maintenance Fitter reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work in a full-time permanent role at the Visy Board, Wiri Site. You will work closely with maintenance and production operations teams to lead initiatives in reducing plant downtime by conducting preventative mechanical maintenance activities, immediate breakdown repairs, and providing general fixed‑plant mechanical maintenance as required throughout the plant. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, inspect machines and attend to repairs and breakdowns. Carry out routine checks and planned maintenance to preserve machine efficiency. Utilize Electronic Maintenance Programs for data collection and maintenance information analysis. Maintain awareness and commitment to employment and legislative responsibilities in relation to safety, quality and environmental standards. Perform ad hoc duties as required. What You Will Bring To the Team Coming with a minimum of 5 years post‑trade experience as a Mechanical Fitter in an industrial/high‑volume manufacturing environment, you should have exceptional fault‑finding and diagnostic skills, and the ability to work under urgency and pressure while maintaining high standards. You should be a proactive team player with strong written and verbal communication skills and a strong focus on Health, Safety and Environmental practices. Mechanical Trade qualification level 4 or equivalent. Skills in hydraulic and pneumatic diagnostics, fault finding and control systems. Basic oxy‑acetylene gas experience and MIG/TIG/Stick welding skills. Forklift licence and Corrugator machine experience highly desirable. Analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and a focus on Continuous Improvement (Lean). Proven ability to work in a physically demanding and fast‑paced environment.
