About Us The Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust provides free literacy tuition to rural and isolated Kiwi adults and teenagers who missed out on reading and writing skills at school. Our volunteer coaches provide coaching via Zoom, Google Meet or phone to students to help them learn to spell, write and read. Literacy challenges affect confidence, employment, and wellbeing, especially in rural communities. Community Ambassador Role As a volunteer Community Ambassador, you will be a local point of connection, helping spread the word about free, one‑to‑one literacy support available nationwide. What you'll be doing Be a friendly, positive face of our organisation in your local community Spread the word about free reading and writing support available to adults and teens Build meaningful relationships with local groups, libraries, schools, and businesses Share posters, flyers, and information in welcoming community spaces Help connect people to support that can genuinely change lives Why volunteer with us? We’ll provide training, resources, a network of Regional Ambassadors, and a Community Coordinator to guide and support you. The role is flexible, purposeful, and deeply rewarding, with real, visible impact in your own city.
