Oral and Maxillofacial Registrar

About the Role Oral & Maxillofacial Registrar position is a fixed 12‑month term based at Tauranga Hospital. The role is ideal for those with a long‑term interest in Maxillofacial surgery and seeking formalised training. As part of your time here you will work alongside experienced specialists, contributing to the high‑quality care that is provided for our patients in the Bay of Plenty. Responsibilities Attend daily clinics, sedation‑led surgical sessions including endoscopy, arthrocentesis, simple and complex dentoalveolar and implant surgery. Work two fixed General Anaesthesia lists for more complex cases, supporting and providing care for facial trauma, dentoalveolar, orthognathic and TMJ interventions. Contribute to after‑hours on‑call on a 1 in 4 basis. Participate in a consultant‑led weekly teaching session (1‑2 hours) covering trauma, pathology, complex case discussion and multidisciplinary teaching. Attend monthly Morbidity and Mortality meetings. Engage in training and research opportunities as expected. Qualifications PGY3 or equivalent from 2026. Dual qualified in medicine and dentistry desirable; singly qualified also considered. Experience in Plastic and/or ENT surgery is a bonus but not required. Eligibility to work in New Zealand. About the Team/Service The service is consultant‑led across two sites, Tauranga Hospital and an off‑site outpatient clinic. It places a strong emphasis on teaching, clinical governance and research.
