Job Description

Lakeland Steel are well established in the engineering and materials handling equipment industries in New Zealand. The Health & Safety Supervisor is instrumental in promoting strong and positive culture and engagement practices for health, safety and wellbeing across both Lakeland Steel Limited and Morbark. Required qualifications Has previous experience in Health & Safety related roles. Preferably holds a Health & Safety / business-related qualification, but this is not essential. Has an understanding of NZ Workplace and Occupational Health & Safety legislation and previous experience with WorkSafe. Is a great coach and supervisor. Has clear and accurate communication. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, and someone who is approachable and engages well with others. Has excellent computer skills. Has sound planning, good timekeeping and organisation skills. Shows empathy, is a good listener and seeks to understand. Health, Safety & Wellbeing Key objectives: Maintain policies and procedures to ensure good health & safety practice are reflected and make sure the business remains compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements. Engage with the team on health & safety procedures/practices through health & safety toolbox meetings, training and coaching, and staff inductions. Ensure systems are in place for all contractors onsite, including contractor H&S induction and documentation. Reporting of all health and safety events. Maintain accident/incident register. Prepare health, safety and wellbeing reports and statistics as required. Book all training & health checks for team members. Complete safety audits for PPE, Plant & Equipment, Workshop & Vehicle audits, and any other audits as required. Review hazards, incidents, near misses and manage the hazard/risk register. Support managers with completing incident investigations when required, including WorkSafe notifiable events to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions. Attend site visits as required. Support managers with return to work and injury rehabilitation programmes. Additional A qualification in Health & Safety at diploma level or higher is an advantage, however not essential Hours 20-25 hours per week, with the flexibility to increase hours in our business periods A full clean driver’s licence is required Work Visa required #J-18808-Ljbffr
