About us The Allied Health team are looking for a NZ registered Occupational Therapist with a specialist interest in Mental Health to join our team of enthusiastic and dedicated multidisciplinary professionals. About the Role As an Occupational Therapist working in Mental Health, you will be responsible for providing assessment, education and treatment using a patient-centred model of care for patients (all ages) inclusive of physical and mental health conditions. This role spans across our Manaakitanga Mental Health Inpatient Unit and our patients in the community giving a diverse and rewarding workload. Travel to other locations throughout the West Coast will be part of the role. What you’ll do with your time: Assessment and treatment of Manaakitanga Mental Health inpatients with appropriate goal setting and outcome measures Support transition from inpatients into community Work as an integral part of the inpatient & community inter-disciplinary teams Liaise with all appropriate health professionals and other agencies to ensure we achieve the best outcomes for our patients Providing education for the families/whānau and carers of our patients as necessary About you We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist who has worked within a mental health scope of practice for at least 3 years to join our multi-disciplinary team. It is essential that you have Minimum 3 years working as a Mental Health Occupational Therapist The ability to work effectively under pressure The ability to be an effective team member, recognising the importance of teamwork The ability to work independently, yet seek support when needed Strong communication skills and cultural awareness You must be flexible with excellent time management Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth Working for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is ‘the weaving of wellnesses.
