Job Description

Overview Physiotherapist - Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Hospital. Permanent, Full Time, 80 hours per fortnight (1 FTE). 7-day roster, 10-hour shifts. About the Role An exciting and challenging opportunity to grow and extend your physiotherapy skills as part of the ORBIT (One point of contact, Rapid response, Best practice for patient, Inter-disciplinary, Team) team, delivering allied health services within the Emergency Department (ED) and Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) at Hawkes Bay Hospital. This dynamic role moves beyond traditional ward-based physiotherapy and involves front-door work to support rapid assessment, early intervention, and safe discharge planning for a diverse and complex patient population. The role requires adaptability, clinical reasoning, and confidence in decision-making within a fast-paced acute environment. You will work both autonomously and collaboratively with medical, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams, with a focus on improving patient flow and outcomes. The team values innovation, flexibility, and continuous learning. Responsibilities Provide timely, patient-centered allied health input in ED and AAU as part of the ORBIT team. Work autonomously and collaboratively with medical, nursing, and wider multidisciplinary teams. Support rapid assessment, early intervention, and discharge planning for a diverse patient population. Contribute to improving patient flow and outcomes in a fast-paced acute environment. About the Team / Location You will be part of a diverse and supportive team working with patients, whānau, and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide high quality, culturally safe, patient-centered therapy. Access to regular in-service training, special interest groups, and opportunities to develop clinical skills. Our Physiotherapy Professional Lead supports growth and service development across the hospital. Qualifications Bachelor of Physiotherapy or equivalent, with at least 4 years of experience. Experience in a variety of physiotherapy roles. Ability to solve routine problems and seek assistance for complex issues as they arise. Strong organisational, time management, and effective communication skills in a busy environment. New Zealand registration with current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
