Intermediate Hydraulic Modeller / Water Engineer We’re hiring: Intermediate Hydraulic Modeller / Water Engineer Zealandia Consulting is looking for an Intermediate Hydraulic Modeller / Water Engineer to join our Auckland-based team. This is a permanent fulltime role supporting projects across flood risk management, stormwater, wastewater, water supply, infrastructure planning, GIS analysis and digital engineering. You’ll work with local authorities, infrastructure providers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical solutions that improve community resilience, infrastructure performance and environmental outcomes. We’re looking for someone with at least five years’ professional engineering experience, strong hydraulic modelling capability, and experience using tools such as InfoWorks ICM, MIKE+, MIKE FLOOD, HEC-RAS, WaterGEMS, WaterCAD, QGIS or ArcGIS. About the role As an Intermediate Hydraulic Modeller / Water Engineer, you’ll play an important role in delivering hydraulic modelling and engineering projects across New Zealand. You’ll undertake flood risk assessments, stormwater and water supply investigations, GIS analysis and infrastructure planning while contributing to multidisciplinary project teams. What you’ll be doing Develop, calibrate and apply hydraulic models for stormwater, wastewater, flood and water supply systems. Analyse model outputs and provide practical engineering recommendations. Support flood risk assessments, catchment studies and infrastructure planning projects. Undertake engineering analysis and contribute to concept and detailed design. Prepare high‑quality technical reports and engineering documentation. Utilise GIS software to analyse and visualise spatial data. Collaborate with engineers, scientists, project managers and digital specialists. Build strong relationships with clients, councils and key stakeholders. Contribute to innovation, digital engineering initiatives and continuous improvement. What you’ll bring You’ll have: A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Around five or more years’ experience in hydraulic modelling or water infrastructure projects. Experience using hydraulic modelling software such as InfoWorks ICM, MIKE+, HEC-RAS, WaterGEMS or similar. GIS experience using ArcGIS, QGIS or equivalent. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. A collaborative approach and a desire to continually learn and develop. Experience working with New Zealand local authorities or flood risk and stormwater projects will be highly regarded. Why join Zealandia?
