Location Porirua, NZ About this role We have one permanent, full‑time School Wide Practitioner position vacancy, based in our regional office in Porirua. The position will work within its team’s local area with flexibility to work across the Greater Wellington region as the business needs require. You will join a supportive trans‑disciplinary team where whanaungatanga and responsive working is valued. There is a lot going on in the education system to improve attendance and achievement through a knowledge‑rich curriculum grounded in the science of learning. We are also working to strengthen other areas, such as learning support interventions and the development of the education workforce. Our role is to work with the education sector to implement these and other priorities – including through proactive, consistent supports and services from our regional teams. The major focus of the role School‑wide Practitioner is to train and support educators to implement the Positive Behaviour for Learning: School‑Wide framework, ensuring the initiative is implemented with fidelity according to international best practice and ensuring that implementation is consistent nationally. The School Wide Practitioner is responsible for the provision of high‑quality special education services to learning institutions, learners, parents, families/whānau, caregivers and other service users in accordance with the guiding principles of Te Whāriki (Early Childhood Curriculum), Ka Hikitia and the New Zealand Curriculum Framework. Salary range: $85,416–$100,866 per annum plus KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience. About you Experience in building relationships and partnerships to achieve shared outcomes. A tertiary qualification in education, psychology or another appropriate discipline relevant to the focus of the position (e.g., Special Education). Knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour. A range of assessment and intervention frameworks with knowledge of inclusive and ecological approaches. Demonstrated successful experience in classroom or other relevant settings, including students with special needs. Effective teaching practices. An ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities. Strong engagement and communication skills, including experience of providing high‑quality and timely advice – written and verbal. The ability to work as part of an integrated team delivering services to the education sector, co‑operatively solving problems and completing tasks. The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct. About our group and team Te Mahau – Education Services provides leadership and integrated services to the education sector and others. This includes learning support; education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services; and advice and support with curriculum. We also share practice and learnings collaboratively with other Te Mahau and Ministry groups to support insights‑driven guidance, design, and policy.
