Locations 45 Pipitea Street, Wellington, 6011, NZ Job Schedule Full time Job Description The Partnerships and Commissions - Te Aukaha branch of the Department of Internal Affairs supports some of Aotearoa’s most significant democratic and community functions. Our portfolio spans national institutions, commissions, Ministerial Services, and community-based operations that support the Prime Minister, Ministers, and the Executive. Within Ministerial Services, we enable Ministers’ Offices to operate effectively, securely, and in line with legislative obligations. Our work sits at the intersection of information, technology, and public trust - supporting good decision-making and strong information stewardship across government. The role | Te tūnga We’re seeking a Senior Advisor – Ministerial Systems to provide specialist advice and hands-on support for the information management and business systems used by Ministers’ Offices. The role focuses on SharePoint Online–based solutions , including the Ministerial Information Management platform (Pūkete), and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and M365 . You’ll work closely with Ministerial staff to support day-to-day system use, lift information management capability, and guide offices through changes in how information is managed. You’ll deliver training and guidance, act as a trusted advisor, and balance business needs with legislative, compliance, and risk requirements. You’ll also stay across emerging technologies, including Microsoft Copilot , to help improve the way Ministers’ Offices work with information. This is a varied role combining technical expertise, advisory skill, and strong relationship management in a high-trust environment. Strong experience administering and supporting SharePoint Online , including site creation, maintenance, permissions, Lists and workflows Practical experience with Microsoft 365 tools , particularly Microsoft Teams; exposure to Copilot or AI tools is an advantage Sound knowledge of information management principles , ideally within the New Zealand public sector Understanding of relevant legislation and standards, including the Public Records Act 2005 Confidence delivering training, guidance, and advice to non-technical users Proven ability to build trusted relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into fit-for-purpose system solutions A customer-centred mindset with a focus on quality, compliance, and continuous improvement At the Department of Internal Affairs, we are committed to offering a collaborative and innovative culture where your perspective and ideas will be welcomed.
