Job Description

Overview Our anaesthetic and intensive care services at Taupo Hospital deliver high‑quality care. The position is based in the mountain‑biking capital of New Zealand, where the role will support a busy district hospital covering acute and elective theatres. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive anaesthesia services for acute pain, birthing, MRI, and the Pre‑Assessment Clinic. Respond to trauma calls and deliver clinical management of a six‑bed Intensive Care Unit. Deliver elective day‑stay services and a Pre‑Admission Clinic on a weekly basis. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality patient care. Qualifications Completed specialist anaesthetic training (preferably FANZCA). Eligibility to obtain provisional vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Experience in Intensive Care Medicine is strongly desirable; formal ICU qualifications are attractive but not required. Willingness to discuss additional clinical interests.
