Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Water and Waste Water infrastructure Operator to join our team in Queenstown. The role involves supporting the Infrastructure Network operational teams to ensure all network assets and infrastructure are operated effectively and efficiently, including assisting in the delivery of safe drinking water and the collection and transportation of wastewater. What's on offer Competitive salary Time and a half after 8 hours daily Time and a half after 40 hours weekly On call allowances, where applicable Meal allowances, where applicable A great team focused working environment Employee benefits at local businesses Reduced gym membership fees Employee social club Opportunities for professional growth and development Stable employment with a reputable, world leading, 3 waters Network focused organisation Meaningful work that contributes to the well‑being of our community Employee assistance programs (EAP) through assure which cover mental health, nutrition, financial, legal, coaching and career transition support Responsibilities Include Maintenance of all reticulation infrastructure and associated network assets (planned, routine, breakdown) Identifying and escalating problems within a proper timeframe Undertaking designated infrastructure operations duties Fault finding and repairs to assets and infrastructure, including the use of excavators, small trucks and other small plant Working with internal staff, subcontractors and temp labour and sharing knowledge and skills Participating in the on‑call duty operator roster Contributing to the high standard of Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental Management Systems Complying with Veolia’s Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Policy Statements, including participation in toolbox talks and health and safety meetings Complying with the company’s business management system and the Quality Policy for drinking water, wastewater treatment and disposal to meet or exceed contract requirements Undertaking required regulatory and role‑specific on‑the‑job training Qualifications Combination of education, training and industry experience Computer literacy Experience Experience with water mains (25 mm–550 mm) and wastewater infrastructure (100 mm–550 mm) Exposure to the water and/or wastewater infrastructure industry and a basic understanding of civil construction and heavy equipment operation Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues and contractors Proven problem‑solving skills and proposed methodologies Other Relevant Skills Or Information Associated industry skills Physically fit Strong literacy, numeracy, computing, communication and interpersonal skills Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and contractors Motivation and enthusiasm, a keen eye for detail and a desire for excellent customer service A self‑starter, you are a results‑focussed team player with a high degree of personal integrity and a positive attitude. You bring the ability to assess and assimilate a wide range of information and consolidate a position or assessment effectively. Your persistence and confidence in your own judgment and capability, along with the ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances, strong analytical skills and focus on quality of work will serve you well in this role.
