Product Owner - Property Lending

About the role Reporting to the General Manager, Strategic Delivery, the Product Owner, Property is accountable for product ownership across Avanti's property and mortgage products. As we enter a period of sustained growth and rising delivery complexity across New Zealand and Australia, this role brings the dedicated focus needed to define where to play within the portfolio, shape product propositions and own the full product lifecycle. You'll drive faster, more sustainable delivery by setting clear priorities, staying close to customer and adviser needs, and executing the product roadmap to strengthen our overall value proposition. What you’ll be doing Own the daily running of the property and mortgage portfolio Develop the product strategy and roadmap, keeping priorities clear, sequenced and aligned to our growth objectives Define where to play by spotting customer, adviser and market opportunities and turning them into product priorities and propositions Manage the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through to launch and ongoing improvement, keeping customers with us over time Work closely with technology, delivery, operations, distribution, risk and compliance teams to turn priorities into action Make the calls that balance customer outcomes, commercial performance, regulatory requirements and delivery realities Use customer, adviser and operational insights to refine and strengthen the product offering Identify risks, dependencies and blockers early, escalating where needed to keep delivery on track Champion the voice of the customer and bring a customer lens to everything we do What you’ll bring Around five or more years in product ownership, management or delivery, ideally within financial services Exposure to property lending, mortgages or home loan products in New Zealand A solid understanding of lending products in the NZ market A track record of turning strategy into practical roadmap priorities and delivering through teams Commercial acumen, with the confidence to use data, customer insights and operational feedback to inform decisions The ability to juggle competing priorities and make pragmatic decisions without losing pace Strong stakeholder management skills and a collaborative approach Clear, concise communication, both written and verbal A practical, hands on mindset, with curiosity, accountability and a strong bias for action An understanding of the Australian lending market is a bonus We’re building a workplace where people are challenged, supported, and inspired to do their best work - because when our people thrive, so does our business.
