Clinical Nurse Specialist - Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Hospital Permanent, Part Time, 48 hours per fortnight (0.6 FTE) A unique opportunity to use your advanced nursing expertise to improve outcomes for frail older people and help shape care pathways in the Emergency Department. About the Role As a Clinical Nurse Specialist GEDI (Geriatric Emergency Department Intervention), you will provide advanced clinical care and leadership for frail older people presenting to the Emergency Department. You’ll work closely with patients, whānau, and multidisciplinary teams to assess, plan, and coordinate care, ensuring patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time. This is a highly rewarding and autonomous role where you’ll balance direct patient care with leadership and service improvement. You’ll focus on avoiding unnecessary admissions, improving patient flow, and supporting safe transitions of care. You’ll also play a key role in sharing specialist knowledge, supporting staff, and driving innovative approaches to enhance outcomes for older people. About the Team / Service / Location Based in the Emergency Department at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital, the GEDI service works collaboratively with ED staff, inpatient teams, primary care, and community providers. You’ll be part of a forward‑thinking team focused on delivering better outcomes for older people through integrated, patient‑centred care. About You Current NZ Nursing Council registration with a valid practising certificate. At least 5 years acute nursing experience, with strong clinical expertise. Postgraduate qualification (or working towards) in a relevant specialty. Advanced assessment, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
