Mo tenei turanga mahi | About the role The School of Mathematical & Computational Sciences (SMCS), at Massey University has a full-time ongoing position for an academic in Computer Sciences and Information Technology. Appointable across the Lecturer / Senior Lecturer range, we are seeking passionate educators to provide teaching and research input into the computer science, software engineering, and information technology disciplines (CSIT). These positions are based at the School of International Education, HEBUT campus in China, and Massey University's Manawatu Campus, New Zealand. This is an exciting opportunity to join Massey University's School of Mathematical & Computational Sciences and contribute to the delivery of a collaborative international programme with Hebei University of Technology (HEBUT) in China. Based primarily at a HEBUT campus in Tianjin or Langfang, you will teach and inspire undergraduate and postgraduate students through engaging lectures, tutorials, and other learning activities, while contributing to curriculum development and the advancement of innovative teaching practices. You will play an important role in enhancing the student experience through modern and digital learning approaches and support postgraduate student research and professional projects. Beyond teaching, you will maintain an active research profile through scholarly publication, collaboration, conference participation, and the pursuit of research funding opportunities. Working closely with colleagues across Massey and HEBUT, you will contribute to high‑quality programme delivery, academic service, and community engagement. The role offers a unique international experience, with time spent both in China during teaching semesters and at a Massey campus in New Zealand during designated periods of the year. All teaching is delivered in English. Mou | About you To be successful in this role, you will have: A relevant doctoral (PhD) qualification. Demonstrated teaching and research practice. Proven ability to teach international students at university level. Previous experience with delivering courses at university level. Experience in research and publication of scholarly articles. It is essential that the successful applicant is eligible to work in and be based in New Zealand and be able to travel to China for semester‑based teaching periods.
