Join a professional painting team delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects across Central Otago. Position Role: Painter Location: Cromwell, Otago Type: Full‑time / Permanent Pay Range: $25 to $36 per hour Days: Monday to Friday (with occasional calls on weekends) Hours: Guaranteed at least 30 hours per week The Company Our client is a professional painting and decorating company providing high‑quality residential, commercial, and renovation painting services throughout Central Otago and the surrounding regions. Key Responsibilities As a Painter, you will prepare, restore, and finish interior and exterior surfaces to a high professional standard. You will be responsible for delivering quality workmanship while working safely, efficiently, and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team. Prepare internal and external surfaces including cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling, sealing, and priming Apply paints, primers, stains, varnishes, sealants, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment Match colours and finishes to project specifications and customer requirements Set up and maintain safe work areas, including the use of ladders and scaffolding where required Conduct quality checks and rectify defects to ensure a professional finish Protect surrounding surfaces, furniture, and fixtures during painting activities Maintain painting equipment, tools, and materials in good working condition Minimise waste and maintain clean, organised worksites Build positive relationships with clients, suppliers, and other contractors onsite Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures To be Successful At least 1 year of relevant painting experience. Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, paint systems, coatings, and finishing standards. Ability to safely operate painting equipment and work at heights when required. Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements. Good communication, organisational, and time‑management skills. High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Physically fit, reliable, and capable of performing manual work. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Site Safe Passport, Elevated Work Platform (EWP), and Scaffold User certifications advantageous. Complete a pre‑employment drug and alcohol test on request.
