Job Description
Captains Position Operating tours in the sheltered waters of Queen Charlotte Sound, working with a positive team to provide exceptional service levels and wildlife experiences. Can be part‑time or full‑time depending on applicant. Responsibilities Successfully complete a training period for dolphin swimming; previous experience is preferred but not essential. Complete all onboard maintenance required unsupervised. Complete all MOSS required documents onboard. Train onboard staff in Operations Manual and Safety. Display confidence in delivery of Captains Information after training period. Time management for trip schedule to be accurate. Be confident with a good skill set for handling small vessels in all weather conditions. Liaison with Senior Captain and Operations manager on operation improvements. Display leadership skills to staff and maintain a clean and tidy appearance. Qualifications Experienced Captains with over 2 years on vessels over 12 m or Trainee Captains with under 2 years experience may apply. Minimum Local Launch Operator with Radar Course or similar qualification with over 12 m endorsement for restricted limits. Tour Sales Representative Independent sales contractor responsible for selling tour products locally and to tourists. Earn a 12 % commission on each tour taken. Responsibilities Use the web‑based sales process accessible from PC, tablet or phone. Utilise the 3‑page digital sales brochure and sales video for all products. Use the online booking form linked to the commission payment system. Target high‑traffic tourist areas (airports, bus and ferry terminals, cruise ship arrivals, hotels, main shopping areas). Benefits Tour price ranges from $49 to $280; earn $4.90 to $28 per tour sold. Earn $19.80–$56 for each ten tours sold. Attractive bonus system for sales above 50 tours in a month. Volunteer Internship Program Duration: 8–12 weeks (90 days, initial) can be extended. Terms: Tourism experience and supervised training. Time: 7:30 am – 5:30 pm (~40 hours a week). 20 hours in Guest Services and 20 hours as a trainee guide (4 tours). Tour value for 90 days is 50 tours or $6,500 for free to become fully trained. Qualifiers: Application to Marine Guide Training. If you love wildlife and tourism and want a career, give us 90 days or 12 weeks of your time. We train you to become a fully employable Marine Guide Training professional with qualifications usable worldwide. If you complete a successful internship and positions are available with Marine Guide Training you are first in line. Otherwise we help you secure a position with the WCA global community. Customer Care Skills Able to handle customers from different cultures (languages, accents, ways of negotiating). Able to keep a professional attitude towards all customers. Able to handle complaints and difficult customers, partners or suppliers. Administrative Skills Able to handle email requests with professionalism. Use of Outlook, Excel, Word. Booking system. Able to manage cash flow (especially during refunds period). SOCIAL MEDIA interest and experience Facebook Instagram Pinterest Google+ Organised & able to report to the Shop manager and CEO. Follow Pro‑forma Office Procedures and policies. Tidy and clean: it is essential to keep shop area and reception areas clean and tidy at all times. Taking initiatives to check and clean public areas regularly. Willing to commit 2 days plus all cruise ship days, approx 30 hours. Able to work flexible hours with own transport: 07:30 to 18:00.
