Dean of the School of Communication and Information Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey seeks an experienced, collaborative, and innovative academic leader to serve as Dean of Rutgers‑New Brunswick’s School of Communication and Information. The position reports to the Chancellor, Dr. Francine Conway, and the dean will be a key member of the Chancellor’s leadership team. About Rutgers and the School Rutgers is one of America’s highest‑ranked public research and land‑grant universities, serving more than 69,000 students from 50 states and 130 countries across three campuses. The School of Communication and Information (SC&I) is located on the New Brunswick campus and was founded in 1982 through the merger of the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies, the School of Communication Studies, and the Department of Urban Journalism. SC&I prepares students in organizational and health communication, social and new media, library and information science, and information technology. Core Responsibilities Build upon the strengths and opportunities within Rutgers‑New Brunswick to expand research, teaching, and outreach across diverse disciplines and schools. Develop undergraduate and graduate programs to equip students for the global communication, information, and media environments. Qualifications and Expectations Record of outstanding leadership and a commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education. Demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, outreach, access, and opportunity. Capacity to generate public and private resources for the school. Distinguished scholarship in one or more of the disciplines comprising SC&I. Expectation of a record of research, teaching, and service appropriate to a tenure‑track appointment at the rank of distinguished professor. Compensation Expected salary range: $300,000–$350,000.
