Job Description

About the Role Advanced Clinician Physiotherapist position within the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Auckland City Hospital. Responsible for delivering advanced physiotherapy care to critically ill patients and supporting the broader critical care team. Responsibilities Provide advanced-level physiotherapy care and expertise in direct critical care delivery. Apply advanced physiotherapy clinical knowledge and skills in assessment and intervention, including early rehabilitation and evidence-based guidance. Lead quality improvement, staff, and service development with Advanced Clinician colleagues and the critical care educator. Evaluate service requirements and lead clinical research initiatives. Work collaboratively with critical care teams, providing clinical and operational support for a team of 5 physiotherapists. Motivate, guide, and develop physiotherapy staff across varying experience levels. Coordinate caseloads and ensure appropriate rehabilitation across both Critical Care teams. Contribute to contemporary, evidence-based practice and policy locally and regionally. Participate in weekend and on‑call physiotherapy services. Qualifications New Zealand registration as a Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate. 8+post‑graduate experience, including at least 4years in a critical care setting. Relevant postgraduate clinical Master's degree or actively working toward one. Significant experience within an equivalent public health service. Flexible, proactive, and can‑do approach with experience supporting staff and students. Excellent clinical reasoning skills and evidence-informed practice. Evidence of establishing and developing working relationships within the wider multidisciplinary team. Effective time‑management, prioritisation, and organisational skills.
