Job Description

Introduction We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Accountant to join our team in Auckland, New Zealand. This role will suit a proactive individual with strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of accounting principles. The successful candidate will contribute to the accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis crucial to our organization's success. Key Responsibilities Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with New Zealand accounting standards. Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for management and stakeholders. Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and intercompany transactions. Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal controls. Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor queries. Maintain fixed asset registers and calculate depreciation expense. Support tax compliance activities, including preparation of GST returns and liaising with tax advisors. Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision‑making processes. Monitor and interpret cash flows and predict future trends. Contribute to process improvements and initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the finance team. Requirements Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or working towards it is preferred 1‑2 years of experience as a Financial Accountant or in a similar role Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB) and MS Excel; experience with ERP systems is advantageous Solid knowledge of New Zealand accounting standards (NZ IFRS) and tax regulations Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with keen attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast‑paced environment Experience in the preparation of financial statements and audit support #J-18808-Ljbffr
