Job Description

Position Overview Sealord, New Zealand’s leading seafood company, is seeking an experienced Chief Fishing Vessel Trawler Marine Engineer to manage the mechanical and electrical systems of our deep sea fishing vessels. Responsibilities Oversee the mechanical and electrical performance of the vessel’s propulsion, fishing, processing and ancillary systems. Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and ensure safe and efficient operation. Work independently with excellent problem‑solving skills, following instructions and safety protocols. Operate on a trip‑on, trip‑off rotation (2–6 week trips) with 12‑hour shifts. Serve as a key team member in a small, close‑knit crew focusing on resilience and teamwork. Requirements Minimum MEC 4 and MEC 3 tickets for Chief Engineer rank. Proven engineering experience on deep‑sea fishing vessels. Legal entitlement to live and work in New Zealand. Commitment to preventative maintenance and safety. Physical fitness, clean pre‑employment drug test and medical assessment required.
