Job Description

Whānau Āwhina Plunket is the largest service in Aotearoa supporting the health and wellbeing of tamariki under‑five and their whānau. We are able to provide clinical support through our traditional well‑child checks and 24/7 telehealth care via PlunketLine. We’re seeking a Registered Nurse or Occupational Therapist to join our Whānau Āwhina Plunket Perinatal Adjustment Programme (PP NAP). This is a 0.5 FTE fixed‑term position until June 2028 supporting whānau across South Canterbury. Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity Are you passionate about supporting women, babies, and whānau during one of life’s most important transitions? We are seeking a compassionate and skilled practitioner to provide support to women and their whānau experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, depression, and emotional distress during the perinatal period. In this rewarding role, you will: Conduct comprehensive assessments, including the use of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) Provide evidence‑based interventions, education, and practical support tailored to individual needs Connect clients and whānau with appropriate community services and resources Deliver care in a variety of settings, including clients’ homes, clinic environments, and virtual appointments Provide ongoing support through home visits, telephone contact, and group programmes Be able to manage the waves that come alongside supporting whānau with multifaceted, dynamic and complex needs This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women and families by promoting wellbeing, resilience, and positive outcomes during pregnancy and the first year of parenthood.
