Product Development Technologist

About the Role We are seeking a Product Development Technologist / Compliance Technologist to join a successful NZ food manufacturing business in Rotorua. This role is suited to someone with 2–4 years of product development and compliance experience who is looking to grow their career within a supportive and innovative company. The role is focused on product development, but with some technical compliance responsibilities. Working closely with the Technical & Development Manager, you will assist with developing concept products, commercialising recipes, supporting production implementation, maintaining technical documentation, and ensuring food safety and quality standards are met. Key Responsibilities Assist with new product development from concept through to launch. Support product trials, formulations, and factory implementation. Maintain product specifications and technical documentation. Work closely with production to ensure product quality and consistency. Assist with internal audits, calibrations, testing, and compliance activities. Investigate customer complaints and support corrective actions. About You You’ll be someone with 2–5 years of experience with a positive attitude and a keenness to learn and develop your career. You’ll be confident working in a fast paced environment and working alongside quality and production teams. 2+ years’ experience in food technology or product development. Experience with quality and compliance. Qualification in Food Technology, Food Science, or similar. Ability to develop concept recipes from product briefs. Ability to develop product labels for new products. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills. Hands‑on approach and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. Keen to build a long‑term career within the food industry. Great attitude and communication skills. Please note, this role is an on‑site role based in Rotorua.
