Job Description
Position Title Gisborne Hospital, Tairāwhiti – Fixed Term (Parental Leave Cover), 0.8 FTE – Rostered/Rotating shifts Overview This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy and rewarding inpatient medical environment, delivering patient-centred care while working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team. The role provides exposure to a diverse range of acute and chronic medical conditions, allowing you to further develop your clinical knowledge and nursing practice. Responsibilities Provide safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care to patients and whānau. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing interventions to achieve the best possible health outcomes. Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and discharge planning. Support culturally responsive practice and contribute to improving health outcomes for Māori. Participate in quality improvement, professional development, and organisational initiatives. Maintain professional standards in line with Nursing Council requirements and organisational policies. About the Team/Service/Location Ward 5 is a busy Adult Medical Inpatient Ward providing care for patients with a wide range of acute and complex medical conditions. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care while contributing to positive health outcomes for the people of Tairāwhiti. Qualifications Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC). Current eligibility to work in New Zealand. A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving Māori health outcomes. Strong communication, assessment, clinical reasoning and time-management skills. The ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment. A professional, adaptable and patient-focused approach to nursing practice. A commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in PDRP.
