Job Description

Midway between Christchurch and the West Coast, Wilderness Lodge Arthur’s Pass sits on a 4000‑acre farm & nature reserve surrounded by the spectacular Arthur’s Pass National Park. Designed to fit carefully into the landscape, the lodge offers spectacular mountain views from every window. There are a range of activities to explore, guided adventures to discover nature and farm life – hike, search for rare wildlife, watch sheepdogs in action & learn about growing fine merino wool. Stylish accommodation, delicious food & warm hospitality complete the experience. The Wilderness Lodge Arthur’s Pass is family‑owned and has been at the forefront of nature protection for over 25 years. We have two roles available for the upcoming summer season. These are full‑time fixed‑term positions between Oct to 1st May. Duties will primarily involve leading our guided activities but as a small team working in a remote location, we value versatility. Guided adventures to discover nature and farm life – kayak, hike, search for rare wildlife, watch sheepdogs in action & learn about growing fine merino wool. The successful candidate/s will engage in a range of other lodge duties when not guiding. This is a live‑in position, with accommodation and meals provided at a cost. Experience and Requirements A strong background in NZ natural history and the outdoors (relevant tertiary qualification an advantage) Experience in NZ flora and fauna interpretation (with knowledge of Te Ao Māori an advantage) and group leadership, with a focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences Excellent and confident English communication skills A full driver license held for a minimum of two years, and the ability to gain a Passenger Service (P) Endorsement and First Aid Certificate Experience in kayaking. NZOIA an advantage but the ability to demonstrate competent paddling, safety management, and emergency response skills required. A positive team player with a sense of fun and enthusiasm, happy to live in a remote location Couples are welcome and encouraged to apply.
