Job Description

MR Hardware Physicist | Portable MRI | Medical Device Startup Looking to assist in developing breakthrough medical technology? Join our client at the forefront of changing medical hardware! Proclinical is working alongside a well‑funded medical device startup who is developing a breakthrough MRI system targeting acute neurological care that is portable. They're building hardware that doesn't exist anywhere else in the world, and they need a physicist who wants to work at the sharp end of that problem. This is a rare opportunity to own the physics characterisation of a novel MR platform from prototype through to clinical validation, working directly with engineers, clinicians, and data scientists in a small, high‑output team. What You'll Be Doing Characterising magnetic and RF field performance: B0 homogeneity, B1 field mapping, gradient linearity, noise floor Developing physical models that connect hardware parameters to image quality Designing and running phantom studies to benchmark system performance Contributing physics‑level input into pulse sequence development and acquisition strategy Analysing SNR, CNR, and artefact characteristics to identify and fix image quality limitations Supporting RF safety analysis, SAR estimation, and regulatory submissions Building and executing QC protocols for clinical feasibility studies Producing physics reports suitable for clinical and regulatory audiences Contributing to publications and conference presentations What We're Looking For PhD or Master's in Physics or Electrical Engineering, with strong focus on MR hardware, electromagnetics, or scientific instrumentation Hands‑on lab experience building and characterising complex electromagnetic hardware Experience with MRI hardware: magnet design, RF coils, gradient coils, or portable/low‑field MRI platforms Proficiency in EM simulation tools (HFSS, CST, COMSOL) and scripting (Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW) Familiarity with Bloch simulation and RF field characterisation Experience in academic, research institute, or medical device environments You'll fit right in if you: Are scientifically rigorous and can’t let a sloppy measurement slide Can translate physics into plain language for engineers and clinicians Thrive when the problem is hard and the playbook doesn't exist yet Apply publication‑quality discipline to everything, not just papers Why This Role You'll work on hardware that is genuinely novel, not incremental Real ownership, not a support function Direct line to clinical impact, regulatory milestones, and publications Fast‑moving startup with institutional backing and clinical traction already established How to Apply To apply, please click APPLY NOW.
