As an Associate Secondary Engineer in our High Voltage Substations team, you’ll support secondary engineering and consulting services across transmission and distribution projects ranging from 132kV up to 500kV. What You’ll Be Doing Support the development of design concepts and technical solutions for high voltage substations. Interpret technical, commercial, and operational requirements to recommend best‑practice engineering solutions. Provide project oversight, supporting co‑located and dispersed project team members to deliver work safely, on time, and within budget. Deliver secondary (and where applicable, protection) consulting and engineering services across transmission and distribution projects, including concept, tender, and detailed design of secondary, protection, and control systems. Produce electrical single‑line diagrams, protection, metering, and control schemes. Perform relay coordination studies and short‑circuit analysis. Define protection settings, logic configurations, interlocking and inter‑tripping schemes. Develop IEC 61850 substation communication networks. You’ll Also Contribute to service estimates, bids, and proposals, working with multidisciplinary and globally distributed teams. Support client engagement and relationship building through project delivery, industry participation, and collaboration with Jacobs’ commercial teams. Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and technical excellence. Requirements Demonstrated experience delivering secondary engineering services within high‑voltage transmission and distribution environments (typically ≥132 kV). Strong understanding of secondary, protection, and control engineering principles. Experience contributing to complex engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams. Working knowledge of IEC 61850 systems and substation communication standards. Clear, concise, professional written and verbal communication skills.
