Laboratory Technician - Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Hospital Permanent, Full Time (64 hours per fortnight, 0.8 FTE) Overview A great opportunity to start or grow your laboratory career in a specialist histology service that supports accurate diagnosis and patient care. About the Role As a Laboratory Technician / Trainee - Histology, you will provide technical support within the Histology Laboratory, assisting with the preparation and processing of specimens to support diagnostic services. You’ll carry out laboratory procedures in line with established protocols and quality standards, ensuring accurate and timely results. This includes supporting specimen processing, maintaining laboratory equipment, managing supplies, and ensuring all work meets clinical, safety and organisational requirements. You will work closely with pathologists, scientists and laboratory staff, contributing to the efficient day-to-day operation of the service. The role also involves ongoing learning, participation in training, and a commitment to continuous improvement and high professional standards. Training and development will be provided for the right candidate, making this a great opportunity for someone looking to enter or develop within the laboratory field. About the Team / Service / Location You will be part of the Histology Laboratory within the wider Laboratory Services team at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldier Memorial Hospital. The service provides essential diagnostic support to clinicians and plays a key role in patient care pathways across the hospital and wider healthcare system.
