Job Description

Position: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – Food Science (Permanent, Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week). Located at AUT’s City Campus, Auckland. Responsibilities Deliver impactful research through external funding, industry partnerships, and strong publication outputs. Teach across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with opportunities to shape curriculum and innovate teaching methods. Champion culturally responsive practice within a collaborative academic environment. Engage with government, business, professional bodies, and community partners to advance research and teaching excellence. Selection Criteria Qualifications – PhD in Food Science (or related field). Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a similar discipline. Teaching Experience – Early career candidates should have some previous teaching assistant experience. More experienced candidates should have lecturing experience, evidence of curriculum development and, ideally, supervision of master’s or PhD students. Research Profile – Early career candidates should possess a solid research pipeline and a job‑market paper. More experienced candidates should have an established research programme, a proven publication record, and success in external funding bids. Evidence of pursuing or securing external research income is desirable for all levels.
