Job Description
About the role The Microbiology department of LabPLUS has a vacancy for a permanent Quality Technical Specialist to provide support to the Laboratory Manager and Sum to promote quality across the department and ensure departmental compliance with accreditation and legal requirements. Key responsibilities include: Assist with the coordination of IANZ and internal audit assessments and act as an auditor in internal assessments. Coordinate external quality assurance programmes for the department. Contribute to process improvement projects. Assist in investigation of incidents and root‑cause analysis. Oversee the quality area responsible for maintenance and calibration of equipment, quality control checks on media, kits and reagents, and in‑house media production. Receive orientation and on‑the‑job training, and participate in formal supervision and professional development opportunities. About the team / service / location LabPLUS is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory, part of Te Toka Tumai Auckland, providing a comprehensive pathology service for Auckland City Hospital, Starship Children’s Hospital, National Women’s Health, and the Greenlane Clinical Centre, and serving as a major referral laboratory for specialised tests across NewZealand and the Pacific Islands. About you Registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council of NZ, a current Annual Practising Certificate, and a minimum of five years’ experience in a microbiology laboratory. Excellent communication skills and knowledge of analytical processes. Strong attention to detail, a focus on quality, and a can‑do attitude suitable for a fast‑paced and busy environment.
