PE Teacher (High School - Year 8-13)

Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher Health and physical education Wā Ora Montessori School is an Area School based in Lower Hutt, Wellington, catering for 300 tamariki and the only Montessori School in New Zealand that nurtures children from 0-18 years. We are a community-based school with close connections to our whānau. We seek a permanent, part-time PE teacher (0.42FTTE) to join our friendly and collaborative high school. You must have NZ teacher registration, prior experience teaching Year 8-13 (12-18yrs) and knowledge of the NCEA PE curriculum. A willingness and ability to take part in the special instruction and education appropriate to the Special Character of our school is a condition of appointment. Year 11-13 classes are delivered Tuesdays 9.00am–11.45am with the expectation you are onsite 8.30am–12pm and Wednesdays 12.30pm – 3.15pm with the expectation you are onsite until 4.00pm. Year 8-10 classes are delivered Wednesdays 9.00am–11.45am with the expectation that you are onsite from 8.30am. You will also be expected to attend necessary meetings after school on Wednesday afternoons until 4.30pm when scheduled in the school calendar (3-4 per term). Wā Ora Montessori School is close to many community facilities that can be used for teaching the programme e.g. Walter Nash, Te Ngaengae (Naenae) Pool; Naenae Park; Hutt Valley Badminton Hall. The position is for a start date as soon as possible and can be negotiated with the successful applicant.
