Job Description
Southern Cross Brightside Hospital in Epsom, Auckland has 33 in‑patient beds and 6 day‑stay chairs, offering surgical specialities such as orthopaedics, urology, gynaecology, general surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and robotics. The hospital also provides an intermediate care facility and specialised post‑operative ward with 24‑hour monitoring and state‑of‑the‑art operating theatres. As the Support Services Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the hospital operates smoothly every day. Your responsibilities include overseeing administration, reception, bookings, finance, accounts, medical records, and outsourced services, driving operational excellence and delivering an exceptional experience for patients, specialists, and visitors. You will also work alongside the General Manager as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning, budgeting, commercial performance, and the development of high‑performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement. Qualifications 5–7 years of experience managing complex administration functions with a proven record of delivering exceptional service outcomes. Strong financial acumen, capable of managing budgets, monitoring performance, controlling costs, and making commercially sound decisions. A people‑focused leadership style that builds, coaches, and develops high‑performing teams. A tertiary qualification in management, business, or a related discipline. Experience in healthcare administration with an understanding of patient‑centred service demands. Proficiency in electronic patient management and reporting systems, using data and technology to enhance efficiency and decision‑making. A continuous improvement mindset, ready to identify opportunities, challenge the status quo, and implement smarter ways of working. Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, enabling collaboration with clinicians, specialists, leaders, and support teams.
