Responsibilities Operate and weld stainless and mild steel pipe systems to meet customer specifications Use a range of fabrication techniques on projects for marine, dairy, food production, and other industries Interpret engineering drawings and prepare materials for fabrication Apply welding tickets (ASME 9) and demonstrate adherence to safety and quality standards Manage on‑the‑job challenges independently and collaborate with a small, supportive team Operate machinery, tools, and equipment used in pipe welding and fabrication work Qualifications Professional pipe fabricator/welder with a sound knowledge of welding techniques Appropriate welding tickets (ASME 9) and experience in heavy fabrication and pipe fitting work Hands‑on fabrication experience, including knowledge of machines, tools and equipment Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Self‑driven, able to work unsupervised, and hold a Trade Certificate in a relevant mechanical engineering field or equivalent training and experience Current driver’s licence – Class One, minimum NZ citizenship or residency (preferably based in NZ) Pass a pre‑employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening About Us Providing expert engineering services across multiple industries since 1972, Kernohan Engineering Ltd has maintained a strong reputation for quality and safety.
