Job Description

Role The Manager Planning, Performance and Risk will provide strategic leadership across organisational planning, performance, risk, assurance and operational health and safety. The role involves working closely with senior leaders and the Executive Leadership Team to shape direction, drive performance, accountability and impact assessment, lead statutory reporting and ensure effective risk and assurance frameworks support Maritime NZ’s strategic objectives and operational success. Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership across organisational planning, performance, risk, assurance and operational health and safety. Shape organisational direction and drive performance, accountability and impact assessment in collaboration with senior leaders. Lead statutory reporting requirements and deliver statutory and government accountability. Drive enterprise risk management, internal assurance, audit programmes and continuous improvement initiatives. Lead business continuity and protective security programmes to strengthen resilience and preparedness. Provide leadership for internal operational health and safety and foster a culture of wellbeing and safety. Partner with the Executive Leadership Team and senior leaders to support decision‑making, prioritisation and organisational performance. Lead a high‑performing team while fostering collaboration across Maritime NZ. Qualifications Experienced and strategic leader with a proven track record in organisational planning, performance and risk. Strong people leadership skills; ability to influence, collaborate across a complex organisation and provide trusted advice to senior leaders. Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience. Experience in developing, implementing planning and performance reporting frameworks and systems. Demonstrated leadership in performance and risk functions, preferably in a Crown Entity or public sector environment. Proven people‑leadership capability with an empathetic, inclusive and development‑focused approach. Strong relationship‑management and collaboration skills across diverse stakeholder groups. Proven decision‑making and judgement, forward‑thinking and innovative approach to change. Highly developed written and oral communication skills and experience providing advice to Boards and Executive Management. Experience and understanding of project and change frameworks and systems. Ability to work in a culturally safe and respectful manner, with an understanding of Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
