Radio Operator/Monitor

Role Overview The Marlborough‑Nelson Marine Radio Association currently has eight dedicated volunteer marine VHF radio operators and is looking for two more. This is a home‑based volunteer position suitable for those who live in Picton or Blenheim, where reliable radio reception is essential. Responsibilities Monitor the radio channels from 0700 – 2200 daily. Provide weather forecasts and safety information to vessels in the Nelson/Marlborough area. Record vessel trip and position reports. Connect vessels to assistance services when required. Requirements Reliable and able to carry out duties independently. Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Time Commitment Ideally a couple of half‑days per week, but flexible depending on your availability (early, late or all day). Getting Started Express your interest by contacting the Association.
