Construction Steel Rigger/Welder Team Lead Job Overview We are looking for an experienced commercial structural steel construction Rigger or Rigging Team Lead to join our dynamic team. This role involves the assembly and installation of structural steel components in teams of 2-3 people for a variety of construction projects (1-60+tons), including commercial buildings. The ideal candidate will have expertise in rigging and ideally some welding, with a solid understanding of safety standards and regulations. Key Responsibilities Interpret construction drawings and blueprints to effectively plan and assemble steel structures. Operate cranes and heavy equipment to position steel components, utilizing rigging tools such as cables, slings, and hooks. Perform welding tasks using a variety of techniques, including MIG and stick welding, to securely join steel components. Use cutting torches and related equipment to accurately cut and shape steel as needed for the project. Conduct quality checks to ensure welds and connections meet both safety and industry standards. Comply with all safety regulations and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Collaborate with team members and project managers to ensure timely project completion within scope and budget. Work on sites throughout Auckland. Qualifications Experience as a rigger and ideally a welder for steel commercial construction in New Zealand. EWP Certification or Rigging & Slinging Certification is a plus. Experience as a Team Lead. Strong hand-eye coordination with the ability to problem-solve in high-pressure situations. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Flexibility to work irregular hours or overtime as required by the project. Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation. Work up to 45 hours a week on sites throughout Auckland. #J-18808-Ljbffr
