Job Description
Location: Mt Albert, Auckland About the Role: Are you organised, people-focused, and passionate about supporting ministry? We are looking for a proactive and relational Administration Assistant & Volunteer Coordinator to help our church run smoothly and support our volunteer teams. This role combines office administration with volunteer care and coordination. You’ll be at the heart of our day-to-day operations—supporting communication, organising systems, and helping our volunteers feel valued, equipped, and connected. If you enjoy working with people, have strong organisational skills, and want to contribute to a faith-based community making a difference, we would love to hear from you. What will your responsibilities be: Recruit, onboard, and train new volunteers in collaboration with ministry leaders Maintain a volunteer database, including roles, availability, and safeguarding requirements Coordinate volunteer rosters and schedules across ministries Ensure volunteers are supported, informed, and appreciated Act as a key point of contact for volunteer queries and communication Identify gaps in volunteer teams and work with leaders to fill them Communication and engagement Facilitate clear communication between leadership, staff, and volunteers Support recognition initiatives (thank-you events, appreciation messages, etc.) Help promote ministry opportunities within the church Compliance and safeguarding Ensure volunteer records meet safeguarding and health & safety requirements Assist in maintaining policies and procedures related to volunteer management Support safe ministry practices in line with church guidelines Our ideal candidate will: Self-motivated and reliable Able to work both independently and as part of a team Supportive of church's mission, values, and ethos Friendly, approachable, and servant-hearted Works closely with: Ministry leaders, staff, and volunteer teams Candidates should be adaptable, energetic, self-motivated and committed to our mission of 'caring for people, transforming lives and reforming society' This is a volunteer role to cover around 10 hours per week.
