Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity In this role, you will apply your protection engineering abilities within a team that investigate, scope, design, and deliver protection settings projects. Projects range from connecting renewable energy sites to upgrading networks for resilience. Projects will have unique design requirements, however, a large part of the work will be predominantly within the Transpower standards framework. Experience with DigSilent PowerFactory, Transpower standards and Stationware is advantageous. Additional secondary or communications design experience would be valuable. Responsibilities Apply and develop electrical engineering and technical design capabilities within the Energy sector, protecting the electrical assets of our clients and helping generators connect to the National Grid. Undertake protection studies and apply settings on new-build and brown-field substation projects across New Zealand. Investigate, scope, design, and deliver protection settings projects, primarily within the Transpower standards framework. Collaborate with team members and clients to ensure project success, including site visits, data validation, and report writing. Ko wai koe | About you Previous protection settings experience from a consulting environment or within an asset owner in the transmission or distribution sectors. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and research skills, with the ability to validate data, drawings, site photos and interpret information. Excellent communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement. Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, technical experts, and clients, and to seek input when needed. Experience with DigSilent PowerFactory, Transpower standards, and Stationware is advantageous; secondary or communications design experience valued.
