Senior Protection Engineer

Overview We are looking for an experienced Protection Settings Engineer to undertake protection studies and apply settings on new‑build and brown‑field substation projects across New Zealand. Key Responsibilities Investigate, scope, design, and deliver protection settings projects for new and existing substations. Perform protection studies and apply settings in line with Transpower standards framework. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and client stakeholders to ensure technical deliverables meet project objectives. Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation for project deliverables. Support learning and professional development within the team. Required Qualifications Proven experience in protection settings engineering, preferably in a consulting or asset ownership environment within transmission or distribution sector. Strong knowledge of DigSilent PowerFactory, Transpower standards, and Stationware. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Ability to independently validate design assumptions and seek expert input when necessary. Experience working collaboratively within a multi‑disciplinary engineering team. Preferred Qualifications Secondary or communications design experience. Experience with renewable energy site connections. Location Christchurch or Wellington.
