About the Role The primary purpose of the role is to provide a specialist psychiatric service, including clinical leadership, to ACOS service users as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. This will include involvement in urgent and planned assessments, planning and delivering care and treatment to those service users, in the context of their family/whānau. We are looking for a full time Psychiatrist for ACOS however there may be some potential for flexibility. The role will include being on the SMO after-hours on call roster. Assertive Community Outreach Service (ACOS)is a Community Mental Health Team working across the Te Toka Tumai district with people who have a history of struggling to engage with mental health services and who present with high risk associated with their condition. The team provide responsive treatment to people who require more flexibility and intensity of support. ACOS is based on the Pt Chevalier health campus near several other mental health teams including other Psychiatrists and a GP. The multi-disciplinary team are fully recruited and frequently welcome medical, nursing and other students. About you Ideally you will be vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (www.mcnz.org.nz ) with a current Annual Practising Certificate or eligible for the same. We are also happy to consider Locum Tenens or people on a provisional vocational pathway.
