Job Description As an Operator, you’ll be responsible for driving a range of vehicles, particularly front loaders equipped with the latest onboard technology to ensure safe and timely collections across Dunedin and surrounding areas. Your key responsibilities will include: Operate vehicles and equipment in accordance with training, instructions or operating procedures and company regulations. Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on vehicle and/or equipment as and when required. Operate computerized systems and other work related systems. Perform loading and unloading duties and transport and disposal of varying waste materials, in accordance with company and client requirements. Undertake servicing, delivery and processing of waste as required. Qualifications Valid New Zealand Class 2 or 4 driver licence (mandatory) Proven experience operating front‑end loaders and heavy equipment in commercial or construction environments Demonstrated knowledge of load management, securing techniques, and weight distribution Strong understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and site safety protocols Excellent spatial awareness and ability to operate equipment in confined or complex environments Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and inspections Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively Attention to detail and organisational skills to maintain accurate records and reports Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in dynamic job site environments Preferred: Heavy equipment operation certifications or additional machinery qualifications EOE statement WM New Zealand is an EEO employer and promotes drug and alcohol‑free workplaces.
