As a director within our successful Aotearoa New Zealand Transport business, you will contribute to and further develop professional and technical skills to the highest level across all projects. You will also play a key role in supporting the development and training of cutting‑edge technical skills, ensuring their practical application to add value to AECOM and its clients. Responsibilities What will a day in this role look like? Leading and overseeing the geometrics design process for major transportation and infrastructure projects. This includes detailed alignment design, grading, horizontal and vertical alignments, and cross‑sectional designs using OpenRoads, 12D, and Civil 3D. Ensuring that designs adhere to relevant standards, regulations, and client specifications. Engaging with our workshare teams and up‑skilling these resources to strengthen capabilities and competitiveness for opportunities. Managing complex design elements and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with client requirements. This involves coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, overseeing the work of engineers, and addressing project challenges proactively. Leading and mentoring project teams, ensuring high performance, effective communication, and knowledge‑sharing within teams. Fostering a collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and continuous learning. Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for technical aspects of projects. Contributing to business development by identifying opportunities for additional services and repeat business. Demonstrating commercial insight, ensuring project budgets are met and clients' expectations are exceeded. Qualifications Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). A minimum of 20+ years relevant experience in geometric design, ideally for major infrastructure projects. Proficient in geometrics design including use of software including Open Roads, 12D and Civil 3D. Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects, meeting delivery requirements, and successfully leading project teams. CPEng (Chartered Professional Engineer) or equivalent professional qualification.
