This position sits within the Infrastructure and Assets Group who from planning to maintenance, are dedicated to delivering resilient infrastructure and services that enrich lives today and ensure a thriving future for our community. Job Description We’re looking for an experienced and collaborative professional to join our Asset Strategy and Information team as our Asset Management Improvement and Systems Lead. Reporting to the Head of Asset Strategy and Information and working as part of a small but influential leadership team, you’ll bring your infrastructure asset management knowledge and systems proficiency to provide business ownership of our asset management information systems. These systems support the management of the city’s physical assets - our roads, parks, buildings, and other infrastructure that deliver services to our community. You’ll ensure our systems, data and processes are well‑governed and continuously improving, while also contributing to broader asset management work across the organisation. The role includes one direct report, and your first major piece of work will be partnering with our Digital Services team and business teams to move one of our core asset management systems to the cloud. What you’ll be doing In this role, you will: Be the business owner for our asset management information systems, working closely with Digital Services to guide system direction, performance, and long‑term sustainability Lead organisation‑wide improvements that strengthen how we manage the city’s physical assets Provide asset management advice to teams across Council Support long‑term planning by developing and embedding asset management planning frameworks and practices Build organisational capability through guidance and practical support Ensure policies and standards are clear, consistent, and aligned with sector practice Identify and manage risks, including contributing to business continuity planning Contribute to sector relationships, including through Āpōpō NZ This is a key leadership role with organisation‑wide impact. You’ll work across teams, influence strategy and systems, and help shape how we manage infrastructure for our growing city. You’ll also be part of a collaborative leadership team focused on delivering practical improvements and supporting capability across Council. Qualifications Oo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience You are a seasoned asset management professional who can influence, lead change, and bring people on the journey. You understand how asset management information systems support good asset management practice. You will have: Solid asset management experience, ideally gained in local government or a complex organisational environment Good working knowledge of asset management principles, frameworks, and sector practice Proven experience leading asset management or system‑focused improvement programmes in a large organisation Demonstrated leadership capability, with the ability to influence at all levels and work confidently across teams Experience collaborating across business units to design, implement, and embed improvements A collaborative, outcome‑focused approach and a commitment to strengthening asset management maturity across the organisation Additional Information He aha te wariu o te utu kaimahi? | What’s the salary?
