Job Description

About the role We’re on the hunt for a world-class Analytics Engineer to join our team! You’ll work hand‑in‑hand with our Planning and Intelligence team to own the semantic layer between raw data and the business — trusted, modelled, analytics‑ready datasets that power everything from AI analytics agents to reports and dashboards. The role will be building the metrics layer that houses definitions, queries and relationships to enable downstream systems to call the same insights – agnostic of tool. Working hand in hand with our wider platform discipline, you’ll help build the foundations of our GTM data stack, and contribute to the strategic direction and future of analytics at Halter. The ideal candidate is product‑minded and user‑driven; you treat datasets and metric definitions as a product, with internal customers, versioning, and high quality documentation. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders to deeply understand their needs – and through the metrics layer enable access to the data the business needs in a consistent, digestible format. We’re looking for people who are comfortable working in a dynamic environment where they will be challenged on a daily basis. We want people who are obsessed with helping to deliver the best outcome for our farmers. To succeed you will need to be able to learn quickly and utilise your own initiative while working under pressure and to tight deadlines. What your day could look like Build and maintain dbt models that serve as the trusted source of truth for GTM analytics. Develop our semantic / metrics layer so dashboards, ad‑hoc SQL and AI agents all see the same numbers. Work with stakeholders to define and document metric definitions – how Halter measures itself commercially. Partner with Data Engineering on upstream pipeline design, and with the Data Scientist and Tableau analysts on downstream consumption. Maintain documentation, lineage and data quality testing across the modelling layer. Stay up‑to‑date with your area of expertise and ensure the team is aware of new technological advances and better ways of working. And finally, this is a start‑up, so you’ll also be rolling your sleeves up and helping with whatever is required to succeed in our mission, knowing that your whole organisation is with you doing the same. Who we're looking for Deep expertise in SQL and dimensional / data modelling for analytical workloads. Strong working knowledge of dbt – staging, intermediate and marts layers, tests, documentation, and metrics / semantic layer. Foundational AI knowledge – open to experimenting with AI tools and building skills alongside the team as the space matures. Experience defining metrics and building analytics‑ready datasets in close partnership with BI and analyst consumers – you understand that a clean dbt model is only half the job. Comfort with Python (or another scripting language) for orchestration and lightweight automation – Airflow exposure is a plus. Strong stakeholder skills and a product mindset – you treat internal data consumers as customers, and dataset quality as a service‑level commitment. Experience working with AWS‑based analytical stacks (S3, Athena, Glue, or similar) and CI/CD‑based deployment with GitHub. Bonus things you could bring along to the role – these are not essential for you to apply Familiarity with Tableau (or another modern BI tool) – ideally enough to partner closely with analysts on the consumption layer. Knowledge of statistical methods and/or machine learning, or a strong interest in supporting predictive analytics workflows. Any exposure to one or more of our GTM platforms – Salesforce, Intercom, Netsuite, Linear. Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure‑as‑code tooling. Our Benefits Delicious snacks and drinks are available for your daily flow. Healthy body, healthy mind – we're partnered with Southern Cross Health Insurance to support your well‑being. We offer 6 months of fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers, 4 weeks of fully paid secondary caregiver leave and many other parental benefits that support you and your family. Our personal growth is important – Halter offers an annual $1,000 self‑development budget to be used for anything that fuels personal growth. Our time to recharge is valued – we're offered wellness leave and unlimited paid annual leave. Importantly, we offer an inclusive and attractive remuneration package made up of salary, benefits and an employee stock ownership plan. #J-18808-Ljbffr
