The Role As an Optical Technician, you will join a specialised manufacturing team responsible for the fabrication, handling, and testing of complex components. Key responsibilities include: Technical Fabrication: Fabricating and integrating a range of optical and non‑optical components. Precision Metrology: Setting up and using advanced optical testing equipment to measure components and interpreting data with high accuracy. Custom Tooling: Designing and manufacturing custom tools required for the production process. Assembly & Alignment: Assisting in the assembly and alignment of intricate opto‑mechanical systems. Quality Assurance: Reviewing project specifications and drawings to ensure all work meets exacting standards. Who You Are We are looking for someone who balances technical aptitude with extreme patience. Education: Minimum NCEA Level 3 (with success in Maths, English, and Physics). A Bachelor of Science or Engineering is preferred. Skills: You possess a high level of practical skill of hand and enjoy problem‑solving in a workshop environment. Mindset: You have a demonstrated desire to learn and a collaborative working style. Physical Ability: You are comfortable working in a workshop setting and able to carry items weighing up to 20 kg. Experience: While previous optical experience is not required, several years in a mechanical or precision manufacturing environment is highly desirable. Why Apply?
